Dr Frank Ashall is a Doctor of Medicine, Biochemist, Author, Anti-tobacco campaigner and Human Rights advocate. He obtained his bachelor and doctorate degrees from Oxford University, UK and did 14 years laboratory research on cancer cells and later on parasitic trypanosomes. He subsequently obtained his medical degree (MD) from Saint Louis University School of Medicine, USA, and following his residency training he practiced as a physician in Internal Medicine for 11 years in the USA. From 2012 to 2017 he was an Associate Professor in a university in Ethiopia, teaching medical and graduate students there. He is an anti-tobacco campaigner, particularly focusing on tobacco problems on the African Continent, and is Director at the Africa Tobacco-Free Initiative, an international NGO based in Kenya. He is the author of numerous academic and non-academic articles as well as a book on popular science.
